Instructor: Misha Donohoe
Dates: Tuesdays Oct. 6-27
Cost: $200 plus GST (all supplies included)
This four-week project-based course will introduce you to the finer aspects of ink and watercolour botanical illustration. We will cover plant anatomy, composition, and drawing techniques to develop our final piece and then use ink and watercolour to colour it.
See your artistic skills develop in this supportive and creative atmosphere. It will be challenging, but also playful, satisfying and fun.
Misha is a science communicator and artist with a great deal of teaching experience. Her students (scientists and artists; young and old) appreciate the pace of her teaching and often comment that the balance of theory and practice equip them to take on new projects.
Assumed knowledge: some experience drawing/painting from life, some knowledge of tone/value, and familiarity with colour theory. (You need not be an expert, but a bit of prior knowledge will go a long way.)
NB: for this course, students can choose their own subject (bring an image of a plant), work from real specimens (digital photos will need to be taken for reference), or decide on their specimen in the first workshop.
